Internet Safety

Hillview Primary School is committed to safeguarding, educating and empowering our children’s use of online and digital resources. In this section of our website, please find a number of guides which were produced for parents and carers on areas such as social media, games consoles and mobile devices. To access them, you need to click on the links below.

Please see the September 2017 Online Awareness Presentation:

Please remember that nearly all social media companies require your child to be AT LEAST 13 of years of age. Your discretion is strongly advised.

If you have any further questions, please visit the National Crime Agency’s cyber safety website for advice: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk

Equally, the following websites may provide you and your children with a more structured platform to discuss online and digitally-based safety issues:

https://www.ceop.police.uk/safety-centre/
http://www.childnet.com/
http://www.kidsmart.org.uk/
http://www.digizen.org/
https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/parents-and-carers
https://websitebuilders.com/how-to/ – excellent resources!

Please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for further tips on monitoring and securing your child’s access to mobile and laptop devices at home. These discussions might be based around asking your ISPs to introduce: time restrictions, website restrictions, filtering and/or monitoring. Each ISP, such as BT, Virgin or Talk Talk, can be contacted online and via phone.
